Nemayiana is being created in collaboration with two other instrumental partners in Nairobi: The GoDown Arts Centre, Kenya’s leading platform for cultural exchange, established in 2002, and Gearbox, Kenya’s first makerspace, founded in 2014. This trio of influential organizations are transforming informal learning, promoting innovation, and elevating creativity and cultural knowledge in the region. This trio is part of a larger consortium of partners who believe in our vision and mission.
The GoDown Arts Centre
The GoDown Arts Centre provides facilities; technical and advocacy support for the development, performance, and display of different forms of creative and artistic expression; and the growth of a vibrant and sustainable cultural sector in Kenya and region.
Gearbox
Gearbox is at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Africa. Gearbox inspires and catalyzes hardware innovation, provides access to world-class engineering methodologies and learning experiences, and offers world-class tools, equipment, and facilities to build the regional capability necessary to transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions across Kenya the region.
THE TARA INSTITUTE
TARA is an international, Nairobi-based organisation committed to recording the rich rock art heritage of the African continent, to making this information widely accessible and, to the extent possible, safeguarding those sites most threatened by humans and nature. To achieve its mission, TARA works closely with communities where rock art is found as well as with national and international heritage bodies including the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
ACCESSIBLE CLEAN ENERGY
Accessible Clean Energy was founded in Paris in 2009. The objective is to identify technological innovation that can be scaled and in that process reduce cost and increase affordability of the technology. The focus of analysis is specifically clean energy technology, and to maximize its benefits for the greatest reach.
NGAREN
Ngaren is a historic collaboration between paleoanthropologist Dr. Richard E. Leakey and The Naturalis Biodiversity Center of The Netherlands. Located in the Rift Valley, Kenya, Ngaren celebrates the beginnings of all humanity. Dedicated to educating humankind on our shared past, Ngaren tells the story of our common ancestry, our epic journeys, and our future obligation to protect the planet that is our only home. Ngaren is where the world will come face-to-face with the forces of change that brought about our existence – and imagine the changes needed to sustain it.
