The vision for Nemayiana began ten years ago in collaboration with the Leakey Foundation with a shared desire to amplify the region’s origin story and a commitment to STEAM education. Over the years, the network of stakeholders has grown to include wide-ranging disciplines positioned locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Nemayiana vision for the future of STEAM learning attracts advocates, funders, and like-minded organizations with aligned future-thinking ambitions to democratize access to STEAM with a learner-focused, culturally relevant model. This investment of a science center is a part of a larger movement in Nairobi to establish a culture district bringing civic pride and international esteem. In the true sense of “Harambee!”, all pulling together, Nemayiana is in a process of being built and evolving with, by, and for local and international communities and stakeholders.
